Fergus native Dana Dobbie has made the 2017 Canadian women’s lacrosse team world cup roster.
The Canadian Lacrosse Association and the senior women’s national team coaching staff recently announced the 18-player roster that will represent Canada at this summer’s 2017 FIL Women’s Lacrosse World Cup in Guildford, England.
The athletes on the 25-player national training squad were evaluated by the team’s coaching staff during a training camp in Syracuse, New York after which the final selections were made.
The final roster is comprised of seven members of the silver medal winning 2013 world cup team, including Dobbie.
There are also six familiar faces from Canada’s historic gold medal performance at the 2015 FIL U19 Women’s Field Lacrosse World Championship.
A leadership group that includes Dobbie, Crysti Foote and Katie Guy, each of whom have represented Canada for well over a decade, will be looked upon to provide guidance to their younger teammates.
